Gateway to the West: Outfit.

Approach to roadtrip outfitting.

In spite of the cold, its quite difficult to dress for a road trip. Long car rides, different body temperatures stewing in a car, lack of leg room. So many different variables that may convince you to resort to leggings and a comfy sweatshirt and call it a day. I pride myself to not be caught dead in a poor outfit just because I am traveling and just because I am cold. Especially with living in Chicago, I have taught myself a major key to cold climate outfitting: LAYERS, LAYERS, LAYERS!

Own those layers! The more layers the better! It gives your outfit dimension whilst giving you the comfort and warmth you need to survive this brutal winter. If you're too cold, add on a jacket; if you're too warm, take off the scarf. Be sure to play around with layers effectively, making sure they work vertically and matches your ensemble appropriately.

I like to plan out a base outfit (as shown in Photo 3.), an outfit that is simple and easy to work with. Once I have a base outfit then I may add on other articles of clothing that are both functional and fashionable, such as a fur vest (as shown in Photo 2.) And of course it would be unwise to go outside without a coat unless you enjoy the cold... So don't forget your winter coat and bundle it with a scarf, a hat or any other winter accessory that will keep you warm and fashionable (as shown in Photo 1.)
